Biography of Hazrat
Umer (R.A)
Hazrat Umer (R.A) was the second
caliph of Islam. He was born at Makkah in a noble tribe called Quraish. Biography of Hazrat Umer (R.A) is given
as below. He (R.A) received the title of Farooq after he embraced Islam. He
(R.A) was one the very few people in Makkah who could read and write.
He (R.A) was a tall, strong and brave man. He (R.A)
was also a very good wrestler, Horse-rider, and swordsman. His (R.A) occupation
was business.
Hazrat Umer’s (R.A) conversion to Islam was of great value to
Holy Prophet (PBUH) in his mission of Islam. Afterwards, he (R.A) remained very
close to Holy Prophet (S.A.W).
Hazrat Umer (R.A) remained caliph
for 11 years. He (R.A) conquered a vast empire during the 11 years of his
Khilafat. He (R.A) introduced a great system of administration which served as
a model for the Islamic world.
He introduced many reforms during his reign such
as administrative court to investigate complains against offices of the state.
He (R.A) also reformed army, police and tax system.
Hazrat Umer (R.A) gave great
importance to justice and well-being of the people. He (R.A) was very strict in
case of judgment.
He (R.A) would not spare anyone, not even his son by him.
High and low, rich and poor were all equal before law. He (R.A) followed the
saying of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) ‘’Treat your servant as you would treat
yourself, master and servant are both equal before Allah.’’ The worship places
and property of non-Muslims were given protection.
One day when Hazrat Umer (R.A) was
saying his prayers in the masjid a non-Muslim named Feroze killed the caliph
with a knife Hazrat Umer (R.A) lies buried near the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and
Hazrat Abu-Bakr (R.A) in Medina
Islam is the religion of love, peace and prosperity. According to the Islamic Teachings all the Muslims are equal in Islam regardless of their caste, creed, color and country. The religion Islam teaches us about every field of life. Islam leads us how to live a better life style and how to deal with every single problem or restriction in life. Whenever, we face any restriction or trouble we can get help from Holy Quran. The teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) are available to adopt a better life style and to gain all the blessings of the world. The hadith and Sunnah are key to success . Be happy and make other happier. Don’t hurt anybody else and live a life of peace and calm. Remember, Islam gives the lesson of love and peace.
